ABOUT US

Founded in 1948 by neighborhood parents, Bright Prospects Cooperative Preschool (BPCP) is a cooperative, nondiscriminatory, state-licensed preschool for children aged 33 months to 5 years. We strive to provide a stimulating social experience for young children in a creative, educational and nonjudgmental atmosphere. We emphasize social development and believe in small group, hands-on learning. We strive to incorporate goals of kindergarten-readiness and seamlessly integrate academic learning with play and experiential learning.

A cooperative in more than just name, BPCP is operated and "owned" by the parents. We serve as school officers, determine all matters of poicy, and conduct school business. Each parent or parents serves on a committee, assists in fundraising activities, and participates monthly as a parent-helper to the two certified teachers. BPCP is a non-profit organization and holds 501c(3) status.

During the summer of 2006, we moved to our current location. You can now find the preschool at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 2730 E. 31st Street behind the East Lake Library. Although the school rents space from the church, the preschool is not church-affiliated.
